THOMAS O'Connell snatched all the points for the Hawks in a top-of-the table showdown with a determined Albion side on Saturday at St Oliver's.
The game seemed set for a share of the spoils, but three minutes into added time the Hawks won a free kick on the edge of the box.
O'Connell hit it, and when the ball came back off the wall the striker let fly a second time and the shot flew past the Albion keeper.
It all began so well for the visitors as they went ahead inside two minutes and threatened to be a real handful for the Hawks.
But as the minutes passed the home side settled well, with Matthew Askins and Robert Murphy fighting hard up front, supported by Femi Fanifosi, Edvinas Butauskas, Christian Connolly, Bema Meite and Sean Caffrey.
Thirteen minutes in, it was Askins who beat the keeper with a near-post header to level it up.
The second half was equally tight, with Rian Byrne Farrell, Maurice Quediago, Conor Brennan and Luke O'Driscoll showing up well this time.
Aaron Moran went close with a rasping shot, before Hugh Murphy in goals delivered a pivotal moment, rising to grasp and hold a long-range free kick under the bar as two attackers raced in.
Hawks kept to their game plan and continued to press, however, and after Moran had fired just wide O'Connell popped up for the winner to break Albion hearts.
