Megan gives a 'hand' in defeat of Croatia

DROGHEDA's Megan Campbell had a hand - literally - in the Republic of Ireland's stoppage-time equaliser in last week's World Cup qualifier away to Croatia.
Campbell, who had hit the crossbar with a trademark 35-yard free kick earlier in the game, launched a long throw into the box in the 94th minute and a Croatian defender nodded the ball into her own net under pressure from Diane Caldwell.
The result followed a victory over Slovakia a few days earlier and keeps Ireland in contention for qualification for the 2015 World Cup Finals.
Meanwhile, fellow Drogheda girl Shauna Newman emulated Campbell, her friend, by scoring with a 30-yard free kick in Ireland Under-19s' 7-0 trouncing of Kazakhstan at Dalymount Park the weekend before last.
