DULEEK extended their unbeaten start to the season as they gained an easy passage to the third round of the FAI Junior Cup with this emphatic win at home on Sunday.
Lying joint third in the Premier Division of the Meath & District League within touching distance of early pace-setters Muirhevnamor, they cut loose in the second half to overpower the visitors.
The Meath side held just a slim 1-0 lead at the break, but the goals flowed in the second period and player manager Tony Grant was particularly happy to see five different players put their name on the scoresheet.
Colin Woods grabbed a brace, his replacement Colin Mills and fellow substitute Craig Brodigan notched one apiece, and Grant also got one along with Chris Pollis.
Duleek will expect to face a far stiffer challenge this Thursday when they resume league action against fellow title contenders Boyne Harps. The Drogheda outfit lie just two points behind Duleek and have made a bright start to their new surroundings, following their promotion to the top division.
DULEEK: Keith Martin, Sean Kennedy Jamie Flaherty, Paul Martin, Aiden Bissett, Colin Woods (Darren Mills), Jonathan Deegan, Dylan Kearney (Craig Brodigan), Chris Pollis, Tony Grant, Anto Burke.
