RATHDRUM Gymnastics Club coaches, Les Culliton and Siobhan Geoghegan, brought eight girls off to an International trampoline competition in Portugal last week.
The Scalabis Cup in Santarem was host to over forty clubs from around the world and the standard was very high.
The eight girls, Ellen Patterson, Izzi Kelly, Alexandra Purtell Jordan, Ali Patterson, Tara Collins, Caoimhe Ward, Lauren Kelly and Beckii Connor had already beaten their personal bests to qualify to go and they all performed excellent routines at the competition. Beckii had to pull out due to an injury.
In the qualifying rounds Ellen finished in the middle third on trampoline and 14th on Double Mini Trampoline which was an incredible debut at an international competition.
Tara and Caoimhe also both finished in the top 20. All the crew, including team leader Aoife and chaperones Roisin and Clea had a great time and it was very exciting from both a competitors and spectators viewpoint.
