Cadette girls second best in semis

OUR Lady's College's Cadette Under-16A team missed out on a chance to compete at the National Basketball Arena when they lost 43-18 to Maryfield College (Drumcondra) in their school semi-final match at ALSAA last week.

The Boynesiders made a slow start, with Ayomide Adebambo scoring their only basket of the first quarter which ended 13-2. The 'big' players have not been firing on all cylinders this season and once again some easy misses under the boards came back to haunt them.

Lauren Owen and Aoife McEntee ran the point guard spot well, but the Drogheda girls were no match for a disciplined Maryfield side.

Our Lady's other two semifinalists, the Cadette Under16B and Senior Under-19B teams, won through to their respective finals which were due to take place this week.

Last Friday the first-year Blue and White sides played St Dominic's (Cabra) in Drogheda and two exciting matches ensued, but unfortunately the hosts lost 24-16 and 16-10 respectively.
