AOIFE Coleman (née McCarthy) of St Peter's AC moved up in distance to tackle the classic 42.195km course in the Dublin City Marathon.
Along with over 12,000 other runners she successfully negotiated the streets of the capital city to cross the finish line in a chip time of 4:08:36 (and a gun time of 4:08:50).
This fine performance earned Aoife 90th place in the Senior Women's age group in the Irish Marathon Championships, which were incorporated into the Dublin City Marathon. She was third best of the County Louth athletes in this category, behind North East Runners pair Mary Laverty and Cathriona Faulkner.
As a juvenile athlete Aoife starred for the Dromiskin-based club in the 800m and 1500m events and upon her comeback last year she once again ran some middle-distance races on the track.
However, this year she has favoured longer races on the road. Last August she had a good run to finish seventh in the Senior Women's category at the Glenmore AC 5K road race in Carlingford, recording a time of 23:15.
