Letters: Highlighting work of underage coaches
Week after week we read about the manager of Drogheda United, Mick Cooke. I would like to highlight the work and commitment of Rory Kerr, pictured left, and Mark Monaghan (Mono), who were managers of the Drogheda United under-19 team for the past number of years.
As the Premier League came to a close this week for the under-19s, these two men decided to step down and return to grass roots with underage teams.
Their hard work, commitment, enthusiasm and encouragement didn't go unnoticed both by players and parents, and were a credit to Drogheda United.
No doubt they will continue their professional role to the benefit of underage soccer in the Drogheda area. Also worthy of a mention was the work of their physio, Lisa, who has emigrated in the past number of weeks.
It has to be said the club looked after the players, providing comfortable transport to long-distance games and refreshments afterwards.
As a parent it was a pleasure to have known these two gentlemen who conducted their business in a professional manner. Keep it up.
A grateful parent
