Youth orchestra musicians learn from the very best

FOR A junior orchestra, workshops don't get any better than this!
The Julianstown Youth Orchestra were treated to lessons from none other than members of the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra at their rehearsals.
The special mentoring programmes are ahead of another event at which the young musicians will perform during an educational project.
Following the sell-out success of Wide Open Music's performance of Beethoven Symphony No 9 with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra in Drogheda last June, the two organisations collaborate once again to present a dazzling display of orchestral colour in four venues throughout Ireland – including Navan, Co. Meath.
The youth orchestra is preparing a range of repertoire, including some related to the RTÉ NSO's concert programme. The project will culminate with a showcase performance with Tasmin Little ahead of the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra concert in Navan.
The concert tour and educational programme is supported by The RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, The Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon and Meath County Council Arts Office.
Julianstown Youth Orchestra will perform at 7 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, in St Mary's Community Centre, Trimgate Street in Navan. Free entry, no booking necessary. At 8 p.m. that evening, the National Symphony Orchestra and Tamsin Little will perform at the Solstice Arts Centre, Navan. Tickets: €16 / €14 (conc).
