Vandals attack vital bus
ARDEE branch of Spina Bifida Ireland members have been left reeling after their minibus, right, was destroyed by vandals. The attack occured at their premises early on Monday morning.
Vandals smashed windows, pulled out the wheelchair ramp and set off a fire extinguisher while the vital bus was parked in the John Street Business park overnight.
The bus was paid for by fundraising, and used to transport spina bifida and hydrocephalus sufferers in mid-Louth to courses and trips.
'It is unbelievable that someone could do this, and we are hoping whoever did is caught,' said a shocked Hazel McGeough from the branch. 'They broke the rear and side windows with a huge rock, and pulled out the ramp used by wheelchair users, but thankfully didn't break that.'
The minibus is expected to cost thousands to repair.
Gardai say the suspects could have been covered in the white powder from the fire extinguisher and maybe a friend or parent saw this. Contact Ardee garda station with any information.
