IT'S THUMBS up for Drogheda's latest cinema project at the Town Centre, and what's more it's just been christened!

The €5m state-of-the-art arena will be called 'The Ark' and is due to open its six screens on July 14th. Up to 100 workers from Manley Construction are involved in the fit out and it's beginning to take shape by the day.

The biggest screen will take up to 380 people with the smaller screens catering for between 50 and 70. There will be over 800 seats in total.

A new foodcourt area is planned and at the moment negotiations are ongoing with several operators.

Simon McCormack and Jim Corcoran from Drogheda Chamber got a guided tour and admitted the complex is very impressive.

'I think this will zizz up the town centre,' Simon added.

He said he did a talk in St Oliver's CC recently and spoke about cinemas. While a vast majority attended the cinema the previous weekend, many had gone out of Drogheda. The promoters see the Town Centre complex as the place to be this summer.
