THIS YEAR you can send Christmas greetings to friends and family with a Ledwidge theme. To promote the poet and raise funds for the upkeep of the museum, the committee have introduced Christmas cards.
The first card has a photo of the Hill of Slane in the snow with an extract from a letter that Francis wrote to fellow poet Katherine Tynan in June 1917 about his beloved Meath. The second card displays the poem, 'House of Gold', which Francis wrote for Fr. Devas S. J. D.S.O. Battalion Chaplain WWI. The greeting inside both cards reads: 'Wishing you peace and joy at Christmas and happiness through all the coming year.
The cards can be purchased in the museum, through www.francisledwidge.com or from a number of outlets in Slane village, namely Mimnaghs, Coyles Family Butcher, Slane Pharmacy, Londis Supermarket, Collon Road. This is an ideal opportunity to send a unique greeting this Christmas and with the added advantage of be supporting the museum.
The Francis Ledwidge museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. The museum will close on Friday, December 14, for Christmas holidays. Email firstname.lastname@example.org Telephone: 041 9824544.
