THE DROGHEDA International Classical Music Series returns on Friday October 18th with the opening concert by Irish soprano Miriam Murphy.
Last June, soprano Miriam wowed Drogheda audiences when she sang Wagner's Liebestod and Beethoven Symphony No 9 with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra.
She returns to Drogheda for a recital with pianist Andrew Synnott in St Peter's Church of Ireland at 7.30pm.
The programme will feature Wagner's Wesendonck lieder as well as songs by Beethoven and Schubert, including the beautiful Ave Maria, and a selection of Irish airs.
The first in a new strand of pre-concert talks will feature conductor Fergus Sheil speaking about the evenings programme from 7pm in the church.
Now in its second year, the Drogheda International Classical Music Series will have seven concerts from October to March 2014, giving audiences a chance to see and hear a range of Irish and International singers, pianists and instrumentalists.
The Series is generously supported by the Arts Council, CreateLouth, RTÉ lyric FM and Droichead Arts Centre. All concerts begin at 7:30pm and take place in St Peter's Church of Ireland and Droichead Arts Centre.
This year, in addition to a new €5 ticket price for students and children, a season ticket can be purchased for €70.
All bookings are through Droichead Arts Centre on 041 9833946 or www.droichead.com
