The discovery of old pictures of soldiers who fought in World War I has led to an emotional meeting of the descendants of those army men.

When Lillian Brayshaw began the search for the families of the men through the Drogheda Independent, she never imagined how the journey would turn out.

Last Saturday, 100 years after their relatives went into battle, those families met for the first time in the Westcourt Hotel.

'It was a special day,' Lillian said.

She came across the pictures in an old box and was determined to find out more about the men and if their families were still around.
