School of Irish Dancing celebrates win in Ulster

THE CORRIGAN-WHITE School of Irish Dancing were celebrating recently after winning the Over 18 Ceili Championship at the Ulster Irish Dancing Championships. The competition, held in Buncrana in Donegal, took place over five days and was a qualifying event for the World Championships in 2013.

The school returned home with an impressive total of 125 medals, with 23 being given in first place, and with many dancers qualifying to compete in the World Championships in Boston next year.

The school's success culminated in one of the teams being awarded the title of Over 18 Ceili Champions and presented with the cup on the last day of the event.

The school's success continued the following weekend when 3 more dancers competed in the Leinster Championships, winning 18 medals between them.

The school is taught by Darina Clarke, Brian Corrigan and Darina Corrigan, who between them hold World Championship and All Ireland titles in both solo and team events, and have toured with Riverdance and Lord of the Dance.

They hold classes for dancers of all levels in Duleek, Termonfeckin, Sandpit and Clogherhead.
