Quartet to perform

DROICHEAD ARTS Centre and Drogheda International Classical Music Series have worked with national festivals to bring an award-winning string quartet to Ireland.
This Thursday, the Arcadia Quartet of Romania will make their first visit to the town after scooping first prize at the Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition, an event recognised as being among the most prestigious of its kind in the world.
The group is fast becoming one of Europe's leading string quartets with a host of international prizes under their belt. The programmes feature masterworks for string quartets by Haydn, Janácek, Beethoven and Debussy. Tickets, priced at €15/€12 or €5 for students/children, are available from Droichead Arts Centre on (041) 9833946.
On Saturday, December 7, CASA's Charity Shop On Penny Lane, Navan, is hosting a ladies Christmas morning with a twist from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.
Join them in the CASA shop for a fun morning of music, mince pies, refreshments and Christmas cheer!
A generous raffle will also be taking place in store, with great prizes up for grabs and Santa will make an appearance for any ladies who may wish to put in a special Christmas request!

A DROGHEDA golfer has received a limited-edition BOSS watch after scoring a hole-in-one during a recent competition at his golf club.
John Connolly, 66, scored his ace on the 150-yard, par-three ninth at Seapoint GC, and the 14-handicapper was rewarded with membership of the exclusive BOSS Watches H1 Club and a specially-commissioned, commemorative timepiece.
