THERE ARE fears the proposed last-minute addition of Minister Fergus O'Dowd's son to the Fine Gael ticket in the local elections will split the vote among existing candidates.
Twenty-seven-year-old Garrett O'Dowd is hoping to follow his father and his uncle Micheal O'Dowd into politics, a move which has yet to be confirmed by the party executive council. If it gets the go-ahead, there are concerns five candidates for Drogheda is too many.
