McKenna sisters take leading roles
THE TALENTS of the McKenna family seem to know no bounds.
Two of the members, Theresa and Jennifer, took part in the recent DkIT Music Theatre Group's production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's legendary show, South Pacific.
Leading roles were taken by the two local sisters from Beaulieu.
Theresa took the role of naïve nurse Nellie Forbush with Jennifer playing the role of one of the nurses.
Both past pupils of Our Lady's Greenhill, Jennifer and Theresa are both students on the BA (Hons) Applied Music programme at DkIT.
Jennifer, an avid pianist and singer is currently in Year 2 of the programme, while Theresa is in third year specialising in contemporary solo vocal performance.
Theresa is a former winner of the Louth X Factor and has a terrific voice.
The show was directed and produced by DkIT lecturers Una Hunt and Aisling Kenny and accompanied by DkIT Chamber Orchestra (director David Stalling) with pianist Una Hunt.
The performances received a magnificent response from the audience with standing ovations on both nights and provided students with a wide variety of theatrical experience including choreography, lighting, sound and as backstage crew.
