Maria ready for launch of 'Blue Mandolin' CD
LOCAL artist Maria Butterly will be launching her debut album 'Blue Mandolin' on Monday, December 2nd.
To celebrate the occasion, Maria will be taking part in an instore performance in CD World, Drogheda on Saturday, November 30th.
the album launch itself will take place in the Knightsbrook Hotel in Trim, featuring special guests, internationally acclaimed Singer/Songwriter Mick Hanly (wrote 'Past the Point of Rescue') and one of Ireland's leading country vocalist, Matt Leavy along with some of Ireland's top musicians including legendary guitarist and producer of Maria's album Bill Shanley.
Maria, who stands poised to be the new jewel in the crown in Ireland's rich crop of musical talent, has been lauded on TV3s Ireland AM as 'One of Ireland's most talented Singer/Songwriters.'
Maria won the much-prized 'Songwriter of the Year' accolade at the 2013 Leinster Entertainment Awards hosted by Daniel O'Donnell. Maria's widely acclaimed debut single 'Angel' launched her into the spotlight as a contestant on this year's Glor Tire on TG4 and it received massive airplay on national radio along with her second recent single self-titled track 'Blue Mandolin' in Ireland, the UK and the US.
Multi-instrumentalist - self taught on guitar, mandolin, piano & whistle - Maria's original style draws on influences from both the Celtic/Irish Folk genre and the American Country genre, as can be heard on 'Blue Mandolin'.
Maria says: 'I have a specific style and sound that I wanted to create and not just blend in with the other genres but to create a new one, my own as Maria Butterly.' Originally from Laytown, Co Meath, Maria has achieved renown as a performer across the Atlantic, where she lived in Nashville, USA, for a number of years.
Maria will perform an instore showcase in CD World, Drogheda on Saturday, November 30th at 1pm.
