Lucky escape!

CAR SMASHES INTO HOME AT ASTON VILLAGE

A DROGHEDA family had a miraculous escape when a car crashed into the front of their house. The accident happened when a resident of Redshank, Aston Village, is said to have hit a patch of ice, resulting in their car ploughing headlong into the front of a neighbouring house.

' The front of the house is almost demolished, with glass smashed all over the kitchen,' the homeowner told the Drogheda Independent. He says he is also glad the driver walked away without a scratch.

'We have been told the house is not safe to live in at the moment, so we are going to stay with friends until our insurance company assesses the damage.' A MIRACLE!

That's how a lucky escape for one local family has been hailed after a car ploughed into the front of their house, demolishing the kitchen.

The accident happened when a resident of Redshank, Aston Village, is said to have hit a patch of ice, resulting in their car ploughing headlong into the front window of a neighbouring house.

The driver was also lucky not to be hurt.

The family of five was on holidays at the time, but received an urgent call to return after a friend broke the news about the damage to their home.

'We couldn't quite believe what they were saying to us,' Eddie, who lives in the house with his wife and three young children, told the Drogheda Independent.

'All I can say is thank God we were not at home, as the front of the house is almost demolished, with glass smashed all over the kitchen, and someone could have been seriously hurt or worse if we were there.'

He says he is also glad the driver walked away without a scratch.

'I understand it was very icy last Wednesday and they may have hit a patch of ice, so even though the airbags were set off, the house came off worse in the crash,' says the dad who has lived in Aston Village for four years.

'We have been told the house is not safe to live in at the moment, so we are going to stay with friends until our insurance company assesses the damage.'
