The longest ever vessel to pass under the viaduct arrived in Drogheda Port last Friday.
The Russian registered ship berthed in the port on the town's ballast quay assisted by the port company environmental launch Boyne Protector'. The vessel at over 420 ft in length was 45 ft longer than the previous longest vessel. Due to the extreme length of the vessel it had to navigate into the port backwards as it was longer than the width of the river at the town quays and unable to turn.
It departed on Saturday with a cargo bound for Denmark.
