Laylarose to chop luscious locks in aid of Alice fund
WE ALL know what little girls and their long hair can be like!
Every tiny princess dreams of being Rapunzel, and nine-year-old Laylarose Barnett from Donore has had a 'head-start' in that department being able to sit on her glorious long tresses.
But that's all about to change as Laylarose is about to get the chop to raise funds for A Chance for Alice.
'This is something she wanted to do for a long time for charity,' says dad Paul Burtenshaw, 'and when she saw the Chance for Alice float in the St Patrick's Day parade this year, she decided she would do it for her.
'She has hardly ever got her hair cut before, just a few trims, so it will be a big change for her to have it up to her chin.'
Laylarose lives with her mum and siblings and goes to Donore NS, where she is getting lots of support from friends, parents and staff.
'She has raised an incredible €700 in sponsorship as well as another €300 on her iDonate page,' says Paul.
'The big chop will happen in the Laurence Town Centre on Thursday April 17th at 3.30pm, and we are hoping to have a big crowd up to the event.'
Laylarose Barrett is being very philosophical about the whole thing, and says 'it will all grow back'! You can sponsor Laylarose on the day or log onto www.idonate.ie/mobile/fundraiser/29110_laylarose-barnett-s-fundraising-page.html
