A LOCAL man shot outside a Balbriggan gym on Friday afternoon is back in intensive care in Beaumont Hospital after his condition worsened at the weekend.
Brian O'Reilly (45) was shot as he sat in his car outside Platinum Gym in Balbriggan at around 11am last Friday morning, sustaining bullet wounds to his side and arm.
A Balbriggan man who knows the O'Reilly family through their involvement in sport locally said that he knew nothing about Mr O'Reilly's background but said he was a 'a very sick man' and wished him 'all the best' in his recovery.
O'Reilly has been visited by gardaí but according to local Garda sources, he has not yet given any information about the gun attack.
It is the second time Mr O'Reilly has been the target of a gun attack, after being shot in Bettystown in August of 2010. Originally from Ballymun, O'Reilly lives in Laytown.
According to local gardaí, witnesses have so far not been able to provide a detailed description of the gunman who carried out the gangland-style attack on O'Reilly.
The gunman is believed to have dark hair and left the scene of the shooting in a white car, which was either a Nissan 200 SX or a Toyota Supra.
