Drogheda fans were in full voice at the derby

It had more plots than an Ian Fleming blockbuster - and that was before a ball was kicked!

The Louth derby between Drogheda and Dundalk ended all square on Friday night, but not before some over zealous individuals decided on an 'early strike' in the usual tense pre-match build-up.

A number of United fans, many of them Ultras, spent the previous week painting and preparing the ground for the Setanta Sports cameras for live TV coverage.

But in the early hours of Friday morning, a break-in occurred at the ground with graffiti sprayed in various areas. That required a further paint job as match-time approached.

The tie was well policed by stewards and then gardai, with members of the dog unit in attendance to make sure there wasn't too much trouble as fans dispersed.
