Funding approved for works at the Thosel
Mayor of Drogheda Councillor Oliver Tully has welcomed the funding that has been granted to carry out further improvement works to the magnificent Tholsel Building in Drogheda.
'It gives me great pleasure to see the magnificent Tholsel coming back to life as a focal point in the town.
'It has taken time, but the Tholsel is once again becoming the heart of activity in the town. The restoration of the ground floor and development of the tourist office with its new interactive exhibition is just the first step in this process,' he stated,
Louth County Council has secured a Fáilte Ireland Capital Grant that, will allow Phase II of this project to commence.
This next phase would see essential renovation and restoration work take place on the upper floor of the Tholsel.
' Our aim is to return this space to public use and bring the building back to its former glory in time for the 250th anniversary of its opening in 2020,' he added.
