The second annual Boyne Music Festival will take place from August 1st to 3rd. This year's Festival features five chamber music concerts and an exciting range of other activities, including two poetry events, a musical workshop for children and an art exhibit featuring leading Irish printmakers.

All events take place at Townley Hall in Drogheda. Built in 1799 by Francis Johnston, one of the foremost architects of his day, Townley Hall is one of Ireland's hidden architectural gems. Its beautiful rooms offer gorgeous acoustics, light and warmth for all Festival activities.

This year's Festival brings together an extraordinary roster of international and Irish artists. Performers include Rita Manning, Chris Laurence, Layla Claire, John Chest, Stephen Nicholls, Louis Stewart, Mark Lockheart, The Manning Trio and many others. These musicians have performed with major orchestras, ensembles and conductors in the most prestigious concert halls and opera houses around the world.

Beginning with the opening concert on Friday night, 1st August, the Festival's three evening concerts offer great chamber music, art song and jazz. On Saturday morning, the Festival will run a musical workshop for children, followed that afternoon by a family concert entitled "Dances from Around the World".

On Saturday evening, Irish poet Martin Dyar will give a talk on the life and work of Seamus Heaney, and on Sunday evening a reading of his own critically acclaimed poetry.

The Sunday afternoon concert features BMF Young Associated Artists, all of whom are students at Irish conservatories. And throughout the weekend, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy fine art prints made by leading Irish printmakers in an exhibit curated by Stoney Road Press.

Major funding for this year's Boyne Music Festival comes from Create Louth. The Festival also receives generous support from many private donors, volunteers and local businesses.

Tickets to all individual events as well as weekend passes may be purchased online at www.boynemusicfestival.com or by calling 087 981 3926.
