Dunleer Tidy Towns clean-up
DUNLEER Tidy Towns is organising a monster clean-up on Good Friday, April 18, at 11 a.m.
All participants are meeting at Pat's Gift Shop at 11 a.m. to collect their litter picker, bags and gloves for the big clean -up of all main roads leading into the town.
It is estimated at least 15 to 20 volunteers will meet to get behind this community initiative. Even if you have not been asked and would like to help out please come along.
Last year's litter collection filled over half a skip of bags full of rubbish after the clean-up. This year with more volunteers they will extend themselves in all directions out all approach roads to Dunleer for about a mile. Most of this rubbish comes from people throwing rubbish out from their cars as they pass.
Litter collections are of course continuing daily around the town and they would like to remind smokers that butts from cigarettes are also regarded as litter. Please use the bins provided on the street.
The second litter problem is dog fouling on the street. Some dog owners are still not aware that it is their responsibility to clean up after their pets. They have received many complaints from residents about this problem.
