DROGHEDA FROM the past is helping the Drogheda of the future in a fundraising project.

One of the town's most popular facebook pages has been the inspiration for a new calendar released in time for Christmas, the proceeds of which will fund the new Boomerang Youth Cafe.

The calendar is called 'Drogheda Down Memory Lane', named after the site which has over 4,000 fans, and was the brainchild of Peter Kierans, of Anglo Printers, who is a volunteer member of the Boomerang fundraising committee.

'Peter knew how many local people watch and contribute to the Facebook page and worked closely with Pat Flanagan and a host of local photographers including Jimmy Weldon, Andy Spearman and Des Clinton to bring it together in a very short space of time,' explains Catrina Culligan of BoomerangCafe.ie.

'We deeply appreciate all their hard work and effort.

' The result is a calendar of beautiful historic images of our wonderful town.'

BoomerangCafe.ie will be the new one stop young service and café, and this calendar will make an ideal Christmas present for friends and family, both here and abroad.

Priced at €10 per calendar the proceeds of the sale will go towards the opening of the new youth café in Summer 2013.

'We hope that people will love the BoomerangCafe.ie calendar as much as we do,' adds Catrina.

'By purchasing BoomerangCafe.ie calendars for friends and family abroad, you can help to bring historic Drogheda a little closer, while supporting a great cause.'

Calendars go on sales this weekend and can be purchased in local retailers (watch out for the posters in their windows), from Drogheda Youth Development in Narrow West Street or on-line by visiting www.BoomerangCafe.ie.
