Double award delight for Dark Valley team
THE BOYS from Dark Valley Tattoo in Peter Street look like they have the smiles inked onto their faces after studio owner Dualta Kellegher took home not one but two top awards at the 10th International Tattoo Convention last week.
The local artist won ' Best Portrait' and 'Best in Show' when his design of 'Blink 182' bassist Mark Hoppus, which graces the arm of Dark Valley tattooist John Boy O'Sullivan, blew the judges away.
'It is a great award for the shop and has firmly placed Drogheda on the map for international high quality tattoo,' said Dualta. 'Mark Hoppus favourited the image as his main like on Twitter to an audience of 2.3 million fans, so our Facebook page has been hopping with messages ever since!'
The intricate design took an incredible eleven hours to complete in one marathon session.
It was one of four designs which took more than 32 hours to complete on other Drogheda and Tullyallen natives.
' The image of the winning tattoo will soon be appearing in international magazines and music publications over the next few weeks,' added Dualta. 'As a result of the win, we will be hosting several international tattoo artists here in Drogheda from January onwards.'
