There will be a selection of novelty and commercial floats with the sounds of several brass and accordion bands floating in the air.

They'll be headed by the award winning Ardee concert band . There will be prizes galore along with free sweets and flags, something for all the family.

The day will also co-incide with the arrival of free parking in Ardee again.

From the 17th, motorists will be allowed to park for up to two hours on the majority of the streets in the town which had been the subject of pay parking up to now.

Bylaws are coming into force to try and prevent all day parking in a bid to avoid congestion.

'It will be a huge benefit to the town,' John Caffrey from the traders group stated. 'It means people can shop at their ease and we will be asking workers not to park on the main street and leave it free for those using the shops.'

The said the parking metres will also be removed when the new system comes into force.
