AN INVESTIGATION is underway after a young Buzzard was shot in woodland at Rosnaree.
The bird was found by a local person and handed in to a vet but had to be put down due to the extent of its injuries.
Four pellets were removed from the bird after it was discovered it had been shot in the wing.
Under wildlife legislation it is an offence to shoot Buzzards, carrying a maximum fine of €1,000.
