A SHOCKED mother has said that her 'guardian angel was looking after her' following her miraculous escape from a blazing car.

Leonie Lyster managed to open the door and race from her 05 Mercedes A1 – just as the car burst into flames.

'It was gone in moments,' Leonie said this week. 'If this had happened on the motorway or a narrow road I hate to think what would have happened.'

As it was, she ended up stopping the car at the rear of the primary school in Clogherhead.

'My thoughts were immediately for my daughter Ellen and the other children who were just getting out from school. I was afraid the car would explode'.
