FORMER Drogheda Independent journalist Alison Comyn is the new face of UTV Ireland's news and current affairs programme, 'Ireland Live at 10'.

Beginning on January 5, 2015, 'Ireland Live at 10' will broadcast from 10pm to 11pm, Monday to Friday – covering breaking news and facilitating topical debate on domestic and international issues.

'I've had a great eight years in the Drogheda Independent with the best of colleagues. It was great seeing the cut and thrust of council meetings and dealing with the likes of the chamber and senior citizens groups. They are all fantastic people,' she stated.

She now hopes to promote Drogheda even more in the years ahead.

Alison is a highly experienced broadcaster who presented numerous current affairs and entertainment programmes in the UK and Ireland before joining the Drogheda Independent.

Alison also presented the BBC's national 'Holiday' programme, where she worked alongside Jill Dando, Carol Smiley and Craig Doyle for four years.

'Alison brings a wealth of experience to UTV Ireland and our news team. Her passion and professionalism are a great fit for the channel,' stated Michael Wilson, Managing Director of UTV Ireland.

'We wish our colleague Alison all the very best in her new career. She is a total professional and has been a big part of the team here,' Hubert Murphy, Editor, Drogheda Independent stated.
