Adams concern over student grants

LOUTH TD and Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams has expressed concern that some students in Louth are "facing significant hardship because of the failure of the Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI) system to clear the backlog of grants requests."

The Sinn Féin leader pointed out that the Minister for Education had confirmed just before Christmas that nearly 1000 students from County Louth had still not received a decision on their grant applications.

Reports from the Union of Students in Ireland claim that over 5000 students across the state have not yet received their grants.
