ARDEE is to get a brand new school with work starting in 2014 on the new Educate Together building.

'We really look forward to moving into a brand new purpose built, state of the art school where we can provide a 21st century educational curriculum to our pupils and continue to build on our previous success,' principal Ann Middleton said.

The new build will be a full size school with eight classrooms, assembly hall, learning support rooms and special needs unit (for Autism), ball courts, playgrounds and playing field. It will serve the school population of Mid-Louth, East Meath and South Monaghan.

'We are currently taking enrolment for 2014, 2015 and 2016 and new Infant classes are filling up fast so we advise people to enrol their children as soon as they can,' she added.

The move to build the new school is part of a nationwide plan announced last week.

'Our school will go to planning and commence building in 2014 and we will move into the new school in 2015, ready for September 1st. This is a very exciting time for us,' the principal added. 'We thank Minister Quinn for this wonderful news and look forward to a bright new future.'
