Walk for Breeda

THE Breeda Craig Memorial Heritage Walk (in support of the Boyne Valley Walking Festival) will take place (on two dates) Sunday, August 24, and again on Sunday, August 31 at 10am from Hanratty's Car Park, Lower Scarlet Drogheda. Participants are asked to assemble from 9.30am for registration.

Registration: €5 per person. Concession: €3 (Seniors, Unwaged, Students). It's an hour and 45 minutes long with walk leaders and a guide.

The ramble will take in a number of local heritage sites in the Newfoundwell, Newtownstallaban, Greenhills, Thomas Street and Lower Scarlet Street areas.

All proceeds raised from the event (on both the above dates), which is being held to honour the memory of long-standing outdoor enthusiast, artist and trade union activist Breeda Craig, will go towards next year's fifth annual Boyne Valley Walking Festival, which will take place over the June 2015 Bank Holiday weekend.

DULEEK TALK

Meath Archaeological and Historical Society presents 'The Augustinian Presence in Duleek'. The talk and walkabout Duleek with Michael Wymes will take place on Sunday, August 24 at 2.30pm.

BLOOD CLINIC

THE Irish Blood Transfusion Service mobile clinic will be in the Boyne Valley Hotel, Dublin Road, Drogheda on Monday, August 18, Tuesday 19, Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 from 5pm to 8.30pm.

The service states that to ensure essential blood supplies, it is important to give blood regularly.

POETRY DAY
