LOOKING MORE like they were celebrating their 40th birthdays than 40th anniversary of leaving school, the Sacred Heart ladies of 1972 cut a fine figure recently, when they met in their alma mater in Sunnyside to catch up on the past four decades.
Principal of the school Ms Mary Caffrey was one of the class mates and was more than happy to throw open the doors of the old school and provide refreshments to help celebrate the milestone.
' This also gave us a chance to view the improvements since we were there,' says Maria Callaghan, who along with Mary Murray and Margaret Smyth helped organise the evening.
' We had great fun locating everyone and an amazing 32 women turned out.
'It was a very enjoyable night and people ravelled far to be there, with Margaret McQuaile coming over from the UK and many cancelled meetings to be there.
By all accounts, the years disappeared and the ladies were all 12 again, so here's to the next big one!
