I HOPE Drogheda can secure the 2014 All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil. It would be awesome for the town.
The event in Cavan over the past few years attracted thousands of people and I know Drogheda has made a bid to get the one after Derry next year.
I think the town is perfectly placed for such an event and the array of locations for events cannot be matched anywhere else.
The TLT, Droichead Arts Centre and the Barbican are superb theatres, but don't forget the likes of the school gyms, too.
Indeed when you start listing them all, it makes total sense why Drogheda should be considered seriously.
RTE are running a Friday night series on the Cavan Fleadh at the moment and it has been featuring a few ' locals' along the way.
Stevie Dunne, the banjo star, whose dad owned and skippered The Wisemans and The Fairweather out of Clogherhead, would be a great sight on the streets of Drogheda.
And what about the acclaimed Ukeladies from Our Lady's Greenhills going ' Trad' for the big weekend?
Yes, the potential is there.
