IT'S ALMOST a kind of homecoming for Raymond Lambe, who opened the door on his family butcher shop in West Street last week.
It's four years since he left a town centre business to open his own shop in Tullyallen, but with that now in the capable hands of Aidan, and his own son Gareth, he has opened a second location in the heart of Drogheda.
'Lots of friendly faces have been coming into me since we opened, saying how nice it is to see us back in town, so we have been made very welcome,' says Raymond, whose wife Marion will be joining the team in the new store, along with Fergal McHugh and Enda Callaghan.
'It's also great to be in West Street, and see people shopping once more in the main street, I hope this is the start of better things for the street.'
Of course anyone who has been a customer of the Tullyallen shop will know the high standards and good quality products Raymond demands.
'We will stock all the usual butcher-style products, as well as all the modern options people like,' he says.
'And of course, it's not too late to order your turkey and ham the way you like it, with some great offers as the moment.'
Stocking only the finest quality products, all Lambe's beef is matured on the bone for a minimum of 21 days to give it that extra flavour and tenderness.
'We have in place full traceability on all our products,, which is essential in today's market,' says owner Raymond Lambe, who heads up a team of highly-qualified, friendly staff.
'We hand-make all our sausages, from traditional pork, pork with extra crushed black pepper (Gold Medal winner at the National Finals), no fat smoked hickory chicken sausages, hot chilli beef sausages and gluten free pork sausages.
