Major sponsor deal for Paul and Karen's 49-day MS walk

A major national sponsor has come on board to provide the perfect boost to Paul and Karen McGovern's epic walk of Ireland in June.

Details of the deal will be released on Monday May 15th.

The Dromin couple will spend 49 days walking from Mizen Head to Malin Head in aid of Multiple Sclerosis Ireland.

Paul suffers from the disease, but is determined to complete the journey, billing it 'the challenge of a lifetime'.

'Some people think that I can't do this because I have MS. It was planned to succeed, not fail, all I can say to you is watch,' a defiant Paul has declared.

The project has been two years in the planning and will see them walk 1,000km.

'We foresee so many people along the west of Ireland being involved in the walk and hope some people from the east and rest of Ireland can join us for a few miles. This is going to be bigger than we first imagined,' Paul remarks.

The final farewell to the couple before they depart takes place in the Grove House in Dunleer on Friday May 12th from 8pm.

It's a fundraising concert, raffle and auction, with the likes of a Louth jersey up for grabs, as well as a host of prizes.

The Full Shilling top the bill with other performers like Nash and Stephen Callan and John Flood, with admission €10.
