Casket of St Bernadette on display at Dominican

Published 12/02/2014 | 05:28

The replica of the final resting place of the saint will be on display ‘indefinitely’.

THE casket of St. Bernadette has gone on display beside the church shop at the Dominican Church on Dominic Street.

The full size replica of the final resting place of the saint was put on public view on Monday and already the reaction has been great.

'It will be here indefinitely and we hope people come in and view it and take something from the experience,' Prior Anthony McMullan said.

There is no charge, but donations towards the upkeep of the church are welcome.

It will remain open Monday to Saturday, from 10.30 a.m. to 5 p.m., for the foreseeable future.

Schools and groups are invited to come and see it and should call (087) 3371938 for more details.

The church has also added a grotto, featuring St. Bernadette and Mary, made by local man Matthew Hanratty.
