SVP/Drogheda Independent 5KM Run takes to streets

THE DROGHEDA Independent is once again delighted to be the main sponsor of this year's third annual SVP/Drogheda Independent 5k Fun Run, which takes place through the streets of Drogheda on Sunday March 16th at 3pm.

Starting and finishing in Laurence Street, the event is part of the Athletics Association of Ireland Calendar and is chip timed.

If you have made that new year's resolution to get fit, why not improve your health and help people in need in your locality.

'The help needed by those less fortunate then ourselves never goes away,' says local area president Joe Sweeney.

'There was a huge demand for our help hampers this Christmas, and we need every cent we raise to be able to help in our own community.'

You are invited to to walk, jog or run this very popular event.

It is open to everyone all levels of fitness, from the Sunday strollers to elite runners and is a great family day out.

'The event is being held the day before St Patrick's Day, which will start the celebrations off in style, and build up a thirst for the next day,' says SVP former local president, and volunteer, Michael Grogan.

' If you are a member of a gym, club, team in an Operation Transformation group, Age Active group, walking group, Mums Town etc, why not put in a team to representative your group,' adds Valerie Campbell.

The cost is €15 per person or €35 for two adults and two children and sponsorship cards are available from the SVP Drogheda Area Office.

The course is flat and enjoyable, good for all levels of fitness.
