Stepping stone to greater things

VTOS students and staff celebrated the successful completion of the VTOS educational courses held in the Adult Education Centre, King Street, Drogheda recently.

VTOS (Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme) is a full-time educational course aimed specifically at adults over the age of 21 who are in receipt of a social welfare allowance.

Participants successfully completed courses in Leaving Certificate, FETAC General Studies and FETAC Social Studies programmes.

For many, this is a stepping stone to further educational training with a number of progression options being pursued including an additional year on the VTOS programme, Third Level studies including St Patrick's College, Maynooth, DCU, Trinity College, The Drogheda Institute of Further Education (DIFE) and the Dundalk Institute of Technology. The graduation ceremony celebrated the many achievements of the 2012/2013 classes and certificates were presented by Sadie Ward Mc Dermott, Adult Education Organiser with County Louth VEC.

The ceremony was attended by family, partners and friends of the students and held in the Adult Education Centre, King Street.

The VTOS groups graduating this year are the final group to achieve certification under the auspices of County Louth VEC.
