Ouch...that gotta hurt!
THE Ice Bucket Challenge has taken Drogheda by storm but for one local resident the stunt ended with a huge bump on the head - and more than 600,000 views on YouTube.
The craze has seen everyone from Mayor Kevin Callan to the staff of the d Hotel pouring icy water over their heads to raise money for Motor Neuron Disease.
However, local woman Teresina Bell had no idea her Ice Bucket Challenge would become so renowned when, in her panic and disorientation after the bucket was emptied over her head, she ended up running into a large iron post.
Her one minute 46 second video has already received almost 2,500 views after it was uploaded to YouTube and has been shared more than 13,000 times on Facebook.
In the video, Teresina can be seen preparing for her ice bucket challenge in a swimsuit, armbands, swimming hat and goggles. The ice is then seen being poured into a bucket of water and lowered over her head.
It is at this point, however, that things start to go wrong as the young woman hops up off the bench and dashes through the garden before colliding head on with a heavy metal bar which knocks her violently to the ground.
And it wasn't just her pride that took a battering as she was left with a large bump on her forehead, a swollen jaw and a cuts and bruises on her face after the accident.
'My chin, my lip my eyes are all swollen. My mouth and tooth were bleeding and I was holding the golf ball sized lump on my head,' she told Gerry Kelly on LMFM.
But the local woman proved she still had a sense of humour about the whole thing. 'I didn't see the line coming!' she quipped.
Nationally, more than €350,000 has been raised for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA) so far, with donations continuing to rise.
