'A PERFECT day' is how Emily Mullen described the garden party she held in in aid of 'A Chance For Alice'.

Her own beautiful garden in Dowth was the location, and more than 200 people arrived to enjoy the sunshine, and raise almost €2,000 for little Alice Turner.

'We were so blessed with the weather, and we couldn't believe we had so many people turn up,' says Emily, whose nephew Greg Hurley held a successful 'Shave or Dye' for the charity earlier this year.

'My sisters Eleanor and Alice, and my daughter Sarah, completed the marathon for her also, so I wanted to do something too.'

Emily's family and friends baked like women possessed and a steady stream through the Sunday afternoon enjoyed the fruits of their labour.

'We've known the Bohan family for years, so it was our pleasure to raise €1,970 and present it to them for Alice's treatment,' adds Emily.

'It show you what a community can achieve when they get together for a cause.'
