West End joy for Stephen
A richly talented playwright from Newfield is to be recognised in London's West End and in the United States with the production of two of his plays.
Stephen Kennedy is one of the foremost experts on The Beatles and his play, 'Death and the Beatles Fan' has been selected for performance at the Silver Spring Stage's One Act Play Festival in Maryland in the United States . It will be staged this August.
But before that, he's off to the West End as his stage play 'Should've Gone to Lourdes' is going to be performed at the Arts Theatre in the West End on July 15th and 16th.
'My play is being directed by Kayla Feldman and produced by Bare Essentials. Bare Essentials are very well known in England for promoting new writing,' Stephen states.
Stephen is no stranger to success and he has had his radio plays broadcast on the BBC (John Lennon's Last Day), RTE (Death and the Beatles Fan) and Radio Merseyside (Lennon v McCartney). His plays have been performed in Dublin, Belfast, London, Liverpool, Dundee, Berlin and Washington DC.
As well as being a playwright, he writes poetry and was shortlisted for the Hennessy XO Literary Awards and the RTE PJ O'Connor Awards. He is presently Director of the Dublin Beatles Festival.
