LAYTOWN singing star Maria Butterly needs your votes to keep her dream alive of winning this year's Glor Tire competition on TG4.
The popular country 'n western talent show saw the nine contestants return to the stage last week in Galway for individual performances, with Maria performing 'Let Me Be There'.
It was greeted with great comments by the judging panel, broadcaster John Creedon, singer-songwriter Caitríona Ní Shúilleabháin and another great singer-songwriter and former Eurovision winner Charlie McGettigan.
Charlie described her as being 'very professional' with John saying he had 'never heard such a strong voice from such a petite woman'. Caitriona remarked that Maria was 'full of joy and energy and just brilliant.'
Maria has been mentored with John McNicholl and has toured the country with him in recent weeks, even encountering Daniel O'Donnell at one gig.
This Wednesday will be the first of the elimination programmes where two contestants per week will go, to leave three in the final.
Maria, the youngest of seven children, and working as a music teacher and vocal coach in Summerhill and at the Clane Academy of Music, not only sings, but plays guitar, piano and mandolin. She says her country style comes from her father and her voice comes from her mother.
She spent 17 years in America chasing the fame dream and has recently released her wonderful single 'Angel'. You can vote for Maria by ringing 1513 415 106 or text GLOR6 to 53307.
The show is on Wednesday at 10.30pm.
