Talented children on stage
THERE CAN'T have been a sequin left in Las Vegas last week, because they were all in Greenhills!
The 25th annual Children's Variety Show really was a spectacular, sparkling and very sequinned affair, and all credit must go to the powerful little team behind the shows, which have entertained the town for a quarter of a century.
From musical classics to current chart hits, the emphasis really was on variety, but from the tiniest tot to the more seasoned dancers, it was clear everyone on stage had a ball!
The show was fast-paced and high energy and Gillian Harte's choreography was excellent as ever – the biggest cheer of the night was when she appeared herself with her own band of dancers! The costumes were a triumph, as dressmaker Annette McDonnell again worked miracles with her shoestring budget.
The little singers as always stole the show in their Easter Bonnets, made even more delightful by the odd quivering lip or tantrum.
Fair play to the handful of lads who were blessed amongst the women and there is some amazing young future talent in the town who also the stage with more current material.
The Children's Variety Show is part of the fabric of the town, with the hard work of Pat Donaghy, her daughters Gillian and Shirley, Niamh, Gaye, Annette and the hundreds more, including parents, making it so special.
