THE COUNTDOWN to Drogheda Pantomime 2013 is really on, with just a few short weeks of rehearsals left before the ten nights of the show in January.
Nerves are jangling at a run through for the main speaking characters in Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, and the most anxious of all is first-time producer Fiona O'Connell!
'I know I have been in the panto since I could walk, but this is the first time that how the show turns out is all down to me,' she says with a reluctant smile.
' The cast are very happy, and are putting in 110% effort, so we are all really looking forward to the dress rehearsals and trying it out on the TLT stage.'
Niamh Leddy will take the title role of Snow White, with the principal boy actually being male for the first time in years!
'Conor Tolan is absolutely brilliant, and there is real chemistry between the two of them,' says Fiona with a twinkle in her eye.
'As always we have the fabulous Elaine O'Brien as the Wicked Stepmother, and John Kirwan doing what he does best as Simple Simon, but some of the real little stars will be our dwarves (Sleepy - Cameron Fox, Sneezy - Holly Murphy, Doc - Evie Martin, Happy - Gillian Fox, Bashful - Rosie, Grumpy - Lennon Collins and little Sophie as Dopey), who for seven children who only met a few weeks ago, have a great connection.'
Tickets for the seven-day run, which starts on January 20, are now on sale, with adults e15, children e10 or a family ticket for two adults and two children e45.
It is on nightly from 7.30pm, with matinees at 3pm on Sunday 20, Saturday 26 and Sunday 27.
' They can be bought in the TLT or CD World, and also Dundalk and Ardee in Carroll's Bookshop and Finlay's,' she says.
'Each night supports a different charity and we can't wait to share all our hard work with everyone.'
