And this season, the orchestra exceeds 100 members which are divided into two orchestras - Junior and Senior. Members range in age from 7 to 17 playing in string, woodwind, brass and percussion sections.

Recently the orchestra managed to secure a grant of €8,000 from Meath Partnership to be used to purchase instruments.

This offers students a fantastic opportunity to learn a new instrument without having to pay the, often very substantial, cost of purchasing it.

There are still a few instruments available in the instrument lending scheme so any potential musicians should contact the orchestra manager on julianstownyouthorchestra@gmail.com. More information can be found on www.jyo.ie.

Forthcoming engagements for the orchestra include a short pre-concert performance in Navan on December 7th where the JYO will perform prior to a concert given by the RTE Symphone Orchestra with guest voilinist Tasmin Little.

The pre-concert performance takes place in the Navan Community Centre at 7pm and admission is free.
