'The Margarine' closed it's doors for the final time in the Summer of 2003, bringing an end to a 50-year association with the town.

Now, former workers have come together for a special programme to relive their own experiences and memories of the factory, and to recall the many friendships that were forged.

Contributors include many of the workers who were there in the early days of the factory, namely Dessie Quinn, Victor Hackett, Dessie Hand, Dick Murphy, Jim Reynolds and Gerry Maher.

There are also some great anecdotal tales from the likes of Seamus Briscoe, Tom Carolan, Jim Walker and Tony Morgan, while Mary Farrell and Anna Clarke Mulroy give a ladies' perspective on life in the factory.

The one-hour documentary airs at 1.10pm on Tuesday December 31st, and is produced and presented by local journalist, Colm Corrigan.

The programme is supported by the BAI's 'Sound and Vision' scheme.
